Christ-Centred Yoga Classes

YogaFaith classes currently on hold.
Please check back again!

One amazing thing about a relationship with Jesus is that we can talk and listen to Him anywhere, whether we're sitting at a table, taking a walk, or driving the car.  If you're like me, you might find it hard to sit down for your daily devotionals without getting distracted or dozing off (yes, I've SO done that).

Here's where I've found yoga an amazing tool:  yoga postures and breathing techniques keep me focused on Christ during Scripture reading, meditation, and prayer. It's not just about the inner focus, either: Postures can help unite the body with the inner heart during prayer and meditation. For example, if we take the ACTS model of prayer, you can see how yoga and Christian meditation can blend together so beautifully:
Beginners welcome: This will be a GENTLE beginner's practice. All are welcome. Please invite as many as you like to join you.

Admission is by donation: 100% of the funds will go to support the Youth Group at Douglastown Community Church.

Stay up-to-date: For current info on upcoming YogaFaith classes, please join my YogaFaith (Christian Yoga) with Matthea Facebook group.

 A - Adoration:
High Mountain (Tadasana) brings the hands to the sky, sending the heart upwards in praise of our Creator God.
C - Confession:
Forward Fold (Uttanasana) folds the body in a bow, allowing the heart to open in repentance before Christ.
 T - Thanksgiving:
Hands to heart (Anjali Mudra) brings the hands to prayer position. Practiced with calm breathing, this posture can help bring our awareness to the blessings God has given us.
S - Supplication:
Child's Pose (Balasana) reflects vulnerability and surrender, as one's knees and head are on the floor.  Here, we can be reminded that God our Father reigns supreme and has control over things we do not.
